Firehouse
Set over three floors of a grand Grade II listed Georgian mansion directly opposite the Natural History Museum, the Firehouse is a chic venue attracting an equally stylish clientele.
Lovingly restored and refitted, Firehouse recaptures the style and discretion of a bygone era. Each of the three floors offers a different mood and experience from the relaxed elegance of the upstairs restaurant, the Dining Room, to the luxurious decadence of Boudoir, the downstairs nightclub... so exploring Firehouse has never been so much fun.
History
The Firehouse is the proud inheritor of over fifty years of club history. The address, No 3 Cromwell Road, was first used as a nightclub and illicit gambling den in the 1950s and in the 1960s became a hangout for the likes of Tom Jones, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. Having been a famous South Kensington landmark for many years, latterly as Bratts and then the Hudson Club, No 3 Cromwell Road became the location for Firehouse in September 2002.
Previously known as the Hudson Club, Jimi Hendrix played his first UK concert here and, in 1966, it was where Tom Jones celebrated his first chart number one. Allegedly, it was also the last place Lord Lucan was seen alive.
Dining Room
Whilst the Firehouse remains a private members' club, the Dining Room is open to non-members, although an advance reservation is recommended.
Previously a private function room, the first floor dining room - which partly overlooks the National History Museum - now offers non-members a comfortable, elegant, refuge where you can sample a perfectly prepared club restaurant classic to cutting edge modern British cuisine.
Although the menu frequently changes, a sample starter is bocconcini of mozzarella, cherry tomato and fennel salad, while a delicious main course for example is grilled escalope of veal and mashed potato with lemon and rosemary and spinach.
Firehouse Bar
Relax in the atmospheric FireHouse Bar which is filled with arresting Bob Carlos Clarke prints. When the temperature sores, relax and enjoy the airy ambience of the courtyard.
Larger Groups
The striking Boudoir bar, which retains many of its original features, is very impressive. Located on the lower ground floor, it is a warm, intimate venue popular for private parties. In the evening, guests can dance to the DJ/live music until 3am should the mood take them.
The Boudoir can be transformed into a private cinema during the day.
