First Floor Restaurant
The First Floor Restaurant is situated in a corner building on trendy Portobello Road in the heart of Notting Hill. This stunning and grandiose dining room mixes the classic French look of balloon-backed chairs, placed on a chequered floor and starched white tablecloths with quirkier touches like big chandeliers, hundreds of lit candles, huge flower arrangements and pieces of sculpture. The venue is very atmospheric and is one of Notting Hill's hidden treasures.
Restaurant
With its tall windows and grand chandalier, the Restaurant has an old world feel and is a wonderful setting for dining out... elegant and comfortable with a twist of Portobello bohemia.
Owners Antony and Alex Harris have teamed up with head chef Dominic Smith (previously head chef at The Pharmacy) to provide a menu that changes quarterly and reflects the mix of modern London. It is primarily modern British and deliciously home cooked. Starters range from Salt and pepper Squid, Spring Onions, Pepperoncini and Ginger to Smoked Duck Breast with Lambs Lettuce and Walnut Vinaigrette. A typical main course would be Thyme Roasted Fillet of Beef, Fondant Potatoes, Spinach and Confit Vine Tomatoes. Desserts, such as the White Chocolate and Honeycomb Mousse are excellent. The restaurant also has an extensive and reasonably priced wine list.
Ground Floor Bar
During the day the Ground Floor Bar has a relaxed atmosphere with newspapers, comfy chairs and an all-day bar menu, with premium draught beer and good wines.
At night, the atmosphere remains friendly and chilled but with a touch of Notting Hill glam! Eclectic bottled beers and a great cocktail list are complimented by a selection of single malts, rums and bourbons. Music is chilled to euphoric by the end of the evening with DJs on Thursday's and Sunday's playing a mix of soulful grooves and funky house.
Private Rooms
The wonderfully atmospheric Private Rooms have hosted memorable launches to celebrity birthday parties.
There are two rooms linked by open arches that can be hired separately or together. Both have open fireplaces and are candlelit at night. With a choice of set menus for sit down dinners or buffets for drinks parties, the roooms have hosted rocking parties with chocolate fountains and vodka louges to classical violin recitals.
